Growing up I was not overweight, in fact, I was quite slim.  It wasn’t until I was in my early 20’s that I started to put on weight easily and then struggled to lose it.  By my late 20’s I had gained almost 20kg since I had finished school.  I then fell pregnant and while pregnant developed gestational diabetes.  This was a blessing in disguise as it stopped me from putting on any additional weight while pregnant, I even actually lost some weight. 

Then, in April this year, I was going through some recent photos and realised there were very little of me with my family and the ones I did have I felt I looked hideous.  My face was full, my skin was red and blotchy and I just didn’t really seem happy. Clothes no longer fitted properly and the ones I did wear were elastic waisted.  I was in denial as to how much I had let myself go, again.  It wasn’t until I stood on the scales I knew I had to do something.  Being at risk for now developing type 2 diabetes since having gestational diabetes, it had to be now.

I was no longer on a diet, I was changing my thinking about food and this was going to be my lifestyle going forward.

I had yoyo dieted for years, followed calorie controlled diets, and shake diets.  I had success with all of these but I also did not have as much weight to lose as I did now.  I also felt like I was really restricted with what I could and could not eat.

While scrolling through Facebook, the Kim Beach ad popped up and intrigued I clicked for more information.  With a weeks free trial I had nothing to lose.

As soon as I started I knew this was a program I could not only follow but would enjoy.  The meals were easily adapted for the family, could be bulk made and were delicious.  The exercises were hard at first but I soon got in a rhythm and found myself looking forward to going to the gym.  The information regarding the principles was what helped me.  I was no longer on a diet, I was changing my thinking about food and this was going to be my lifestyle going forward.

In the stage I dropped 3.5kg and around 25cm.  It motivated me to keep going and while the following months’ my weight loss was slower I was still losing weight so I was happy.

To date I have lost 11kg and 65cm.  My shape has changed drastically.  My skin is clear.  I have more energy and I am so much happier.  I still have a little way to go and I am ok with it taking time. 

One of the most important parts of my success has been the support group and the Kim Beach Team.  Having this platform to interact with a group of women going through the same experience as me has been wonderful.  They will celebrate your success but also support you through your failures.  There is no judgement.
