If you have a sweet tooth this slice is for you – sweet and nutty!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup red lentils
  • 1 cup walnuts – chopped
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • 8 dates – chopped
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened apple sauce
  • ¼ cup coconut oil – melted
  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tbl cacao powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 tsp baking powder

Method:

Line a square baking dish with baking paper. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.

In a container or bowl add lentils plus 1 cup boiling water, place lid on top or simply cover and let the lentils soak for 20 minutes.

Place lentils along with everything else (except the walnuts) into a bowl, mix together.

Pour mixture into baking dish, top mixture with the walnuts and bake in the oven for 30 minutes.

Once cooked cut into slices and enjoy.
