How to develop a healthy drinking problem this weekend!
You probably know that water is good for you but do you drink enough every day?
Your water intake is very important in maintaining your overall health and is especially important if weight loss is your goal.
Let’s look at some facts to get started:
So if our bodies are made up of all this water you can start to understand why it’s important to make sure we stay hydrated by drinking water throughout the day.
It’s also important to understand that many soft drinks and energy drinks will give us that immediate satisfaction of quenching our thirst but in reality that can contribute to dehydration due to their sugar and salt content, not to mention all the other synthetic ingredients that offer no nutritional value!
Water is truly a magical substance, not only does it contain no calories it can also suppress our appetite naturally and most importantly it helps our body metabolise (break down) stored fat. So if your goal is fat loss make sure you are drinking 8 glass of water per day and an additional 2 glass if you have exercised or if it’s a hot day.
Water also helps our kidneys work effectively, when you get dehydrated the kidneys rely on your liver to help out and this means your liver is not doing one of its main jobs of metabolising fats so it’s important to stay hydrated to allow your body to work efficiently and keep you healthy.
When it comes to drinking more water instead of other drinks I speak to lots of people who say ‘I don’t like the taste’ or ‘I don’t have the time’ – please trust me that it really doesn’t take long to adjust and sparkling water can be a great place to start.
A good mindset to create is to think about consuming what your body actually needs to stay healthy, rather than just responding to what your mind tells you it wants in the moment.
The bottom line is that we need to make sure we reach for the water bottle regularly every day to stay hydrated and healthy.
